Allen Park is located ten miles southwest of Downtown Detroit, and adjoins Lincoln Park on the east, Taylor on the west and Melvindale on the north. The city government is the Mayor-Council type, with the Mayor and six Councilpersons elected by the voters of the city every four years. The City Council meets each 2nd and 4th Tuesday of the month at 7:00 p.m. in the Council Chambers.
